Canvas is a startup that seeks to change the job recruiting process, screening candidates through text conversations before proceeding to real life interviews. The startup capitalizes on millennials’ evident preference for communication over text rather than phone calls and voice mails.

It’s a long overdue innovation, according to HR thought leader and professor, Dr. John Sullivan, who raved of the many potential advantages of text-interviews in a blog post, including “a higher quality of hire, less bias, a lower cost per hire as a result of lower travel costs, a reduced environmental impact, an improved candidate experience, and a shorter time to fill.”
